Whilst making the sound mirrors I was inspired by advanced ancient technologies and early astronomical devices that informed the way ancient civilisation viewed the sky. These different approaches to cosmology opened up a variety of perspectives that take a critical view of the modern Western divisions between religion, science, nature and culture. Giving the rational and imaginative equal weight I investigated the potential of this space, creating a multi sensory experience. During my research I was drawn to planetary harmonics and the specific frequencies derived from the planets otherwise known as the Music of the Spheres, believed during the Renaissance period to have a direct effect on the human psyche.Working with these classical and celestial ideas whilst drawing on new age approaches to sound healing I collaborated with North East a capella group Mouthful (Katherine Zeserson, Bex Mather, Dave Camlin and Sharon Durant), sound engineer Fred Hollingsworth and sound healer Johanna Sheehan to produce a work that activates the ceramic portals.
