The Stanmore Puzzlers and Crossword Convention
The Stanmore Puzzlers were gleaned form the local community, a group of people passionate about solving crossword puzzles who wanted to try their hand at setting them. We met every Monday for four weeks trying to set clues for three of the puzzles in the leaflet. Their attempts were checked and corrected by expert setter Roy Dean.
Before going to print I invited everyone involved in the project to “Crossword Convention” to test out the puzzles and listen to Roy Dean in conversation about his career as a setter and winner of the Times Crossword Championships 1970.
